I got a smoking deal on an Arai XD3 at The Helmet Center.
Posted by: AndrewjonesNot a single one of us would like to admit that we would ever go down on a motorcycle, but in reality, I knew it was only a matter of time. I just thanked God that I had just purchased a full-coverage Arai XD3 at The Helmet Center, rather than my little lid that didn't even cover my ears. If I didn't have the full coverage of the Arai XD3, the doctors told me that I probably wouldn't be able to smile. That put a smile on my face as I purchased another Arai XD3.
The biggest issue I always had with the full-coverage, and why I stuck with my little riding cap for so long, was the lack of air that ran by my face. It just didn't feel like freedom to be locked in the little bubble, breathing in sweat and funk. But, what sold me on the Arai XD3 is that the helmet breathes so well, with the many ports and thinner-than average, built-to-fit liners, that greatly decreased the funk level that builds up in a full coverage, and really gave me that feeling of freedom again. But, what is the great bonus of the Arai XD3 is that when the funk does build up, like it always will, is that the liner of the Arai XD3 is easily removed, washable and only needs it every month or two even during heavy use for me, and I sweat a lot.
The other problem I always had with a full-coverage was detachment from surroundings. I couldn't check out a hot one real well without being REAL obvious about it, and couldn't hear things I needed to until I found the Arai XD3. If you're missing out on the women, and can't hear the roar, that seemed to miss the whole point of a motorcycle to me! But thankfully for my face, I found the Arai XD3 at The Helmet Center, once again, so that I can sneak a peak, hear my exhaust, and be safe at the same time. AND they gave me a deal on the second!

The manufacturer’s ideology is basic and straight forward, comfort over cosmetics. The arai profile okada-ryu helmets main goal is to enhance the comfort level of the rider, not cosmetic make-up. The motorcycle helmet has a hyper ridge band along the base of the external shell for reinforcement along with adding strength to the shell itself. Get a Quality Helmet at a Low Price with the Scorpion EXO 200
Posted by: AndrewjonesIf you are looking for a ¾ open face touring helmet, the Scorpion EXO 200 is a really good option to look into. Made with a polycarbonate shell, this helmet is both DOT and Snell 2005 certified. Yet, it can still be purchased for less than $150, making it a good option for those who are looking for a good, solid helmet, but don’t want to spend a whole lot of money.
Enjoying Great Visor Options with the Scorpion EXO 200
Perhaps one of the best features of the Scorpion EXO 200 is its anti-fog visor. Simply put, Scorpion has done a great job with its anti-fog technology. While the retractable visor will still fog up when you breathe on it, it only takes about a second for it to clear away completely.
In addition to coming equipped with a retractable anti-fog shield, the Scorpion EXO 200 also comes with a traditional peak-style visor in the box. So, for no extra charge, you can easily and quickly change your helmet to have an old school look if you like.
Getting the Right Fit with the Scorpion EXO 200
As with all helmets made by Scorpion, the Scorpion EXO 200 tends to run about a ½ size small. So, if you normally fit into a medium, you might need to go with a large when purchasing this helmet. You should also keep in mind that this helmet is geared more toward those with a round head shape. Therefore, if you have an oval head shape, you might experience a little bit of pressure in your forehead or chin if you go with this particular helmet. For those with a rounder head, this helmet should offer a very comfortable fit. Since the liner is fully removable, you can also customize the fit while also being able to easily clean the inside.
Keeping Ventilated with the Scorpion EXO 200
While there are certainly better helmets on the market in terms of ventilation, the Scorpion EXO 200 does a pretty good job for its price. The helmet features two large intakes on the front, both of which are easy to operate even while wearing gloves. The helmet also has a controllable exhaust vent on the back, which is not typically found on open face helmets.
Get Shoei Quality at a Great Price with the Shoei TZR Helmet
Posted by: AndrewjonesThe Shoei TZR is a good choice for those who are looking for an entry-level option for entering the Shoei family of helmets. As with all Shoei helmets, the TZR is a high-end, hand-built Japanese helmet that is made with top-notch materials and craftsmanship. As an entry-level helmet, however, the Snell 2005-certified Shoei TZR does not feature the same features as other Shoei helmets. Still, it offers a high level of quality at a much lower price than the other helmets in the Shoei line.
Getting Vented with the Shoei TZR Helmet
Although the Shoei X-11, which is the flagship model within the Shoei line of helmets, certainly vents better, the TZR still has a very good venting system. The controllable front air intake is easy to operate even while wearing gloves. Although there is no exhaust vent in the back of the helmet, there is a vent on the neckroll that does move a significant amount of air. For its price, the Shoei TZR does outperform other helmets at its price point in terms of ventilation.
Keeping it Light and Aerodynamic with the Shoei TZR Helmet
Shoei takes a great deal of pride in its work. As such, the company runs its helmets through a wind tunnel in order to achieve the most aerodynamic design possible. The same holds true with the Shoei TZR.
In addition to offering an aerodynamic design, the Shoei TZR is very lightweight. In fact, it weighs in at only 3.5 pounds. Not only is the helmet very comfortable in your head, it also feels very light in your hand. Therefore, you can be certain the helmet will not create neck fatigue while wearing it.
Getting the Right Fit with the Shoei TZR Helmet
As with all Shoei helmets, the Shoei TZR runs true to size. Therefore, you can trust the Shoei sizing charge when selecting your helmet. The Shoei TZR also features a moderate shape, which means most people find the helmet to be comfortable unless their heads are extremely round or oval in shape.
To help achieve an even greater fit, the cheek pads can also be removed and replaced in the Shoei TZR helmet. It should be noted, however, that the top liner is fixed.
Experience a Groundbreaking Design with the Scorpion EXO 1000
Posted by: AndrewjonesThe Scorpion EXO 1000 featured a groundbreaking design when it first hit the market a couple years ago. In fact, many of the features included on the helmet when it was first introduced to the market have become pretty standard on many of today’s helmets. Still, the Scorpion EXO 1000 is still doing quite well in terms of sales thanks to its great features.
Getting Ventilated with the Scorpion EXO 1000
The Scorpion EXO 1000 pushes air through pretty well. Although it does not provide the same level of ventilation as top-of-the-line helmets, it does provide nearly an 8 out of 10 in terms of ventilation. In addition, the Scorpion EXO 1000 does move air through a bit better than the Scorpion EXO 700.
With the Scorpion EXO 1000, which is both Snell 2005 and DOT certified and features a Kevlar composite shell, you get a vent directly above the shield as well as a couple of RAM air intakes at the top. These intakes are easy to operate while wearing gloves. In the back, the helmet features an adjustable exhaust system that is even labeled with open and close, making it easy to be certain you have the exhaust adjusted properly.
Enjoying a Great Shield System with the Scorpion EXO 1000
As with all Scorpion helmets, the Scorpion EXO 1000 features a great visor system that is easy to change out. In fact, all you need to do is lift the visor up and then twist the disk on the side. After twisting the disk, the visor can be easily removed by pulling it away from the helmet. To put a new visor in place, simply put it into position and then twist the disk back into position.
The Scorpion EXO 1000 helmet also features an excellent anti-fog system. Just as with other Scorpion helmets, this helmet is virtually fog-free. In addition, the helmet features a tinted drop down sunshade. All you need to do to deploy the sunshade is to push the lever on the side of the helmet. When you are ready for the sunshade to go back up, you just press the lever back up. The drop down shade is a great feature for those who commute with their bikes, as it helps block out the sun without interfering with glasses. In addition, the shade drops own far enough that you don’t have to worry about seeing the lower edge as you look through the shade.

The Arai Profile Okada-Ryu Advantage
Posted by: AndrewjonesThe Arai profile okada-ryu helmet is designed for a long, oval fit. The overall shape represents Arai’s newest, organic, shaping concepts and greatly increases this helmet’s comfort and performance, during riding. Its sleekly contoured shape fits a larger variety of human heads and is designed to feel better and more controlled in the wind, even when a rider turns their head while riding. Made of a super complex, fiberglass laminate construction, the profile okada-ryu was developed in every aspect with its wearer in mind.
Arai’s helmets are designed from a CLC (Complex Laminate Construction) shell fiberglass composite that is stronger while being lighter – allowing for greater use of softer, less dense, liner materials for increased rider satisfaction. An optically correct, preformed face shield provides improved vision and UV ray protection with minimal distortion. The Arai profile okada-ryu also features LRS shield removal for quick and tool-less replacement of face shields, whenever desired. This helmet’s free flowing ventilation system reduces overall wind turbulence while increasing the exhaust of hot air from the facial area. This provides remarkable comfort to the rider while also decreasing shield fogging.
The profile’s brow vent, face shield ventilation directs cooling air without placing holes in the critical forehead area of the shell or inner, padded lining. This strengthens the helmet for hard impact, dispersing any blows, across the full area of the shell, without placing weak areas in dangerous impact zones. The Arai profile okada-ryu comes with a removable breath guard to reduce fogging by deflecting breath away from the face shield. To help clear fogging, the helmet features a De-Mist Lock tab that pushes forward to open the shield slightly. For a custom fit and enhanced comfort, the profile comes with a fully removable liner in several sizes and cheek pads. The liner and pads can be easily washed when necessary to keep the helmet fresh and clean over time.
Every helmet sold by the Arai Company comes with a full 5-year, limited warranty. All helmets made by Arai are 100% handmade and go through three, separate, quality control inspections.
