How Does Web 2.0 Apply to Me Anyway
Posted by: Megan GarrisonI love listening to the podcasts by Paul Boag over at BoagWorld.com. They're great fun and give plenty of food for thought. Evidently Mr. Boag recently gave a talk at a Web 2.0 Seminar on "What is Web 2.0?, How does it Apply to Me Anyway?" and the presentation has been turned into an excellent 20 minute video complete with slides It's directed more toward site owners than programmers, but it offers some good points you might want to share with your clients.

10 Things You Can Do to Maintain Mental Fitness
Posted by: Megan Garrison"Turkey Day" is over here in the states, Christmas Shopping Frenzy has begun, and I woke up this morning with the realization that 2007 is approaching WAY too fast. Typically, this is the time of year when there is too much going on, days become a blur, and I start telling my husband if I lose my last wit, would he please just slip a little something into my morning coffee because I don't want to hang around that way.
Still, there are things one can do to maintain mental fitness and stay confident, positive, optimistic & just generally more in control of where your life is heading. Kelly Huston has a good article called, The Ten Part Mental Fitness Program over on e-articles.info Some of her suggestions include:
- Think about Your Goals
- Take a Test Every Day
- Focus on Results
- Concentrate on Solutions
- Dedicate Yourself to Lifelong Learning
Sounds to me she'd make a great CF developer ;P
Anyway, bullet points really don't do her advice any justice. check it all out at:

CF Recipe for a Tag Cloud
Posted by: Megan GarrisonIn our house, the holidays are a time not only for bringing out favorite recipes but also for trying new ones. Yesterday, I realized I hadn't been over to ColdfusionCookbook.com in a while. When I clicked on over to see what was new, I found that Jeremy Petersen had posted a recipe on how to create a tag cloud from a query. One more tasty tidbit for my CF recipe collection :)

Getting credit card swipe data into ColdFusion
Posted by: Megan GarrisonTraditionally the Friday following Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year (in the US anyway). So in honor of this important day, I thought I would post that Jeff Houser recently wrote an article for ColdFusion Developer's Journal that includes information on how to get credit card swipe data into ColdFusion via a USB credit card swiper. (Scroll down to "Wednesday: Credit Card Swipes")
